What is Dress Measurement?
Dress Measurement is a body measurement and size recommendation app for iPhone and Android. You can capture measurements two ways: manually with a tape measure, or using Body Scan, where you scan yourself with your phone camera and then draw on the screen at the exact points you want measured. Both methods are free on every tier. The app stores measurements in organized profiles, gives you instant size recommendations across 70+ supported clothing brands, and exports your data as PDF or CSV. It is built for tailors who need a client measurement book as well as for online shoppers who want to stop guessing their size.
Is the app free?
Yes. The Free tier is genuinely free and includes manual measurement entry, Body Scan with your phone camera, size recommendations across all supported brands, iCloud backup on iPhone, PDF export, and up to 7 profiles on iPhone (7 on Android).
Is Dress Measurement a tailor shop management app?
Today Tailor Shop centers on the measurement core: unlimited client profiles, custom measurements, photos and notes per client, and CSV / PDF export. Order management with status tracking (received, cutting, sewing, fitting, alterations, complete), fitting appointment scheduling with reminders, invoicing with PDF export, per-order client notes and photos, and client notifications via SMS, WhatsApp, and email are the next features on the active roadmap. The app is steadily expanding from a digital measurement book into a fuller shop tool.
What's the difference between Free, Tailor Shop, and Remove Ads?
The Free tier covers personal use well: a few profiles, all measurements, size recommendations, and PDF export. Tailor Shop ($2.92/mo billed annually, or $4.99/mo) adds unlimited profiles, custom measurements, photos and notes per profile, CSV export, and reference measurements, the features a working tailor needs. Remove Ads is a separate one-time purchase of $19.99 that permanently removes banner and interstitial ads while leaving the free feature set otherwise unchanged. The three are independent: you can be on Free with no ads (Remove Ads), or on Tailor Shop and still have ads unless you also purchase Remove Ads.
How many profiles can I save?
On the Free tier, you can save up to 7 profiles on iPhone and 7 on Android. The Tailor Shop subscription removes this limit entirely, so you can manage an unlimited number of client profiles. Profiles store all measurements, notes, photos, and export history.
Does Dress Measurement measure me with a camera or AI?
Yes, but not the way most body-scanner apps do it. Dress Measurement includes a Body Scan feature on every tier, including Free, that uses your phone camera: you scan yourself, then you draw on the screen at the exact points you want measured. That extra step trades a little speed for significantly more accurate results than apps that take one photo and guess from it. You can also skip Body Scan entirely and enter measurements manually with a tape measure. Both methods are free on every tier.
Does it sync across devices?
On iPhone, Dress Measurement uses iCloud to sync profiles and measurements across all your Apple devices automatically. Advanced iCloud sync settings are available on the Tailor Shop tier. Android currently stores data locally on the device; cloud sync for Android is on the roadmap.
Can I export my measurements?
Yes. PDF export is available on the Free tier and produces a clean, shareable measurement sheet. CSV export is available on the Tailor Shop tier and is designed for use with spreadsheets, client management tools, or ordering systems.
Is the app available on Android?
Yes. Dress Measurement is available on both iPhone and Android. The Android app has approximately 95% feature parity with iPhone. A few features that rely on Apple-specific technology (such as iCloud sync) are iPhone-only for now.
Do I need internet to use it?
No. All measurement entry, profile management, and size recommendations work fully offline. Internet access is only needed for iCloud sync on iPhone. The size recommendation data for all 70+ brands ships with the app.
Can I add custom measurements?
Yes, on the Tailor Shop tier. The app ships with a comprehensive set of standard measurements (bust, waist, hip, inseam, shoulder, sleeve, and many more), and Tailor Shop lets you add any measurement your work requires beyond those defaults.
Can I use Dress Measurement for sewing patterns?
Yes. Home sewists use Dress Measurement to store body measurements and reference them against pattern size charts, the same way tailors use it for clients. On the Tailor Shop tier you can add custom measurements like crotch depth, armscye, sleeve pitch, or back shoulder slope that most pattern size charts assume but generic body-measurement apps leave out.
How do size recommendations work?
You enter your measurements once, then navigate to the Size Recommendations screen and pick a brand and clothing category. The app compares your measurements to the brand's size chart and tells you the best matching size with a confidence level: high (all measurements within range), medium, or low. The algorithm uses the same logic for both iPhone and Android, and the brand size chart data is the same on both platforms. See the size recommendations page for a full explanation.
Which brands are supported?
Over 70 brands across menswear, womenswear, and childrenswear are supported, covering a wide range of price points and regions. The list includes brands commonly available in North America, Europe, West Africa, South Asia, and Southeast Asia. Visit the Brands page for the full list.
Does it work for aso ebi, salwar kameez, or other non-Western garments?
Yes. Custom measurements cover any garment type, and tailors across West Africa, South Asia, and Southeast Asia already use Dress Measurement this way for ankara, aso ebi, agbada, salwar kameez, kurta, lehenga, and similar traditional wear. The standard body-measurement set covers most needs; Tailor Shop lets you add garment-specific fields whenever a traditional cut requires them.
