Privacy
Privacy, in plain English.
Last updated: October 21, 2026. This page covers dressmeasurement.com, the marketing website, and what the Dress Measurement apps send to our servers. The App Store and Google Play listings carry each app's own privacy summary.
What this website collects
dressmeasurement.com is a static site served through AWS CloudFront. Standard CloudFront access logs record the IP address, user agent, and requested URL for every page view. These logs are retained briefly for operational purposes (debugging, caching, abuse monitoring) and are not used for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties.
Beyond that, the only thing we collect is website analytics, and only if you accept it (see Website analytics and cookies below). There is no advertising, no Facebook pixel, no Hotjar, no Segment, no heatmap tool and no fingerprinting. Our own code sets no cookies. It writes two small items to your browser's local storage, and both stay in your browser. dm-consent-v1 holds your analytics choice and its date, so we do not ask again on every page; it is strictly necessary for the consent banner to work. dm-help-device holds which device's screenshots (iPhone, iPad, Android and so on) you picked in Help, so the next article shows the same ones; it is a preference and nothing else.
Website analytics and cookies
This section covers dressmeasurement.com only. We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages help people, so we can improve them. How it starts depends on where you are, which we judge from your device's time zone; the time zone is read in your browser and is not sent to us or to Google.
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, analytics is off until you choose Accept analytics on the banner. Until then nothing is loaded from Google and no analytics cookie is set. If you choose Reject, nothing is loaded and nothing is set.
Everywhere else, analytics is on when you arrive, and no banner is shown. You can turn it off at any time: choose Cookie settings in the footer of any page, then Reject.
What Google Analytics collects. While analytics is on, it records the pages you view, how you arrived (the referring site or search), your approximate location derived from your IP address, and the type of device, browser and operating system you use. Google does not log or store individual IP addresses in Google Analytics 4. We do not send it your name or email address, and we do not use it to identify you. The search box in Help puts your query in the page address (/help/?q=). We remove what you type in Help search before anything reaches Google Analytics. We have switched off Google signals and advertising features, so the data is not used for advertising or ad personalization.
Cookies. While analytics is on, Google Analytics sets two first-party cookies on dressmeasurement.com: _ga, which tells one browser from another, and _ga_<id>, which keeps session state. Each lasts 2 years. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland they are set only after you accept.
Legal basis. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland our legal basis is your consent, under Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR and the ePrivacy rules that require consent before cookies like these are set. Elsewhere we rely on our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used so we can improve it, and you can object at any time by turning analytics off. We do not sell your personal information or share it for advertising. You can say no and still use every part of the site.
Who processes it. Google Ireland Limited, and Google LLC in the United States, process this data for us as our processor. Transfers outside the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, to which Google LLC is certified, and on standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it. Google Analytics event data is kept for 14 months, then deleted automatically.
Turning analytics off. Choose Cookie settings in the footer of any page at any time, then Reject. We stop sending data to Google, delete the Google Analytics cookies from this site, and remember your choice. You can also change your mind and accept. We ask again, or in regions where analytics is on by default switch it back on, after 12 months. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a refusal wherever you are, and analytics stays off unless you choose Accept yourself in Cookie settings.
Videos. Our tutorial videos are hosted on YouTube, which is operated by Google. Nothing is loaded from YouTube or Google when you open a page with a video; it loads only when you press the play button. From then on YouTube's own privacy policy applies, and YouTube may set cookies. This is separate from the analytics choice above.
The Dress Measurement apps handle their own data separately, as described in the sections below. Nothing in this section changes them.
Third-party assets
Apart from Google Analytics, described above, and YouTube videos, which load only when you press play, we do not embed third-party scripts. Outbound links to external sites (the App Store, Google Play, Aeeiee.com) use standard HTTP; we do not set any analytics parameters on those URLs. The App Store and Google Play listings are subject to Apple's and Google's respective privacy policies.
If you email us, we will have your email address and whatever you wrote. We retain it for as long as is reasonable to answer your message and for basic customer-support records. We do not add you to any marketing list based on a support email.
The Dress Measurement apps
Your measurements, profiles, notes and photos live on your device, and the apps work without an account. On iPhone and iPad your data syncs through your own iCloud account, not through our servers. Each app collects what it needs to function: your measurement data, profile information, and on iPhone, iCloud sync data. See the App Store or Google Play listing for the full detail.
The sections below describe the things the apps can send beyond that: usage analytics and crash reports, optional anonymous Body Scan sharing, fit feedback, brand requests, and, on Android, Cloud Sync. They also describe the brand size charts the apps download from us.
Usage analytics and crash reports
Both apps use Google Firebase. Firebase Analytics records how the app is used: which screens are opened and which features are used, for example the brand you looked at, the size it recommended, or which kind of measurement you took. Firebase Crashlytics sends a report when the app crashes, with the device model, operating system and app version. Neither receives your measurement values, profile or client names, or contact details. On iPhone the app also notes whether an Apple Search Ads campaign led to the install. The App Store and Google Play listings carry the full detail.
Optional anonymous Body Scan sharing
Sharing is off unless you agree to it. The app asks once you have taken a few Body Scan measurements, and you can switch it on or off at any time in App Settings > Body Scan.
If you turn it on, each time you accept a camera measurement the app sends us an anonymous copy, which we use to train a model that automates body measurements. The copy has up to three parts. The silhouette is a black and white mask of the outline of your body. The pose points, sent only when the app has them, are the locations of joints such as your shoulders, hips and ankles. The measurement details are your profile's height and a male or female setting, the lines you drew and the value you accepted, which view it is (front, side or back), the phone model, operating system and app version, the camera and phone-tilt settings recorded during the capture, and the time.
We never receive your photo, your name, your profile or its ID, your notes, or an account. Sharing does not need an account.
Here, anonymous means no identity: nothing in a shared copy, and nothing we store with it, names you or ties it to your profile, your account or your install of the app. It does not mean the content says nothing about a body. A silhouette, a height and measurements are body data, and they are kept in a private, encrypted storage bucket.
Like any request to a server, an upload reveals your IP address. Our routine server logs keep it for 90 days, and it is never joined with shared copies. To limit abuse, the server briefly keeps scrambled (hashed) versions of your IP address and a random install ID, and deletes them after 2 days.
Because nothing in a shared copy identifies you, we cannot tell which copies came from you, so we cannot find or delete them on request. Turning sharing off stops it from then on: it cancels uploads in progress and deletes any copies still waiting on your phone. Copies we have already received stay in the dataset.
Fit feedback and brand requests
Two features send a short message to our servers, and only when you use them.
Fit feedback. When a size recommendation asks "Did this size work for you?" and you answer It fit, Too small or Too large and then confirm, the app sends your answer along with the brand and size chart, the size you were shown, the garment category, the confidence level, your profile's men's or women's setting and fit preference, and the body measurements that recommendation used: each value, the chart's range for it, and whether it was taken with the camera or entered by hand and when. It also sends the app version, the platform, a random install ID the app made when it was installed, and a profile key, a one-way scrambled code that keeps several clients measured on one phone from being mixed together. It never sends a name, profile name, email or account.
Brand requests. When you use Request a Brand, the app sends the brand name you typed, the website if you added one, the app version, the platform, the phone model, the random install ID and the time.
Our server keeps the install ID only as a keyed hash. We use it to ignore repeat taps and to spot one install skewing a brand's results. It is not tied to your name, email or an account, and it changes if you reinstall the app. As with any request, your IP address reaches our servers and sits in routine logs kept for 90 days.
Brand size charts
The apps download brand size charts and logos from our content delivery network at cdn.dressmeasurement.com, and keep a copy on the device. It is an ordinary download, like loading a web page: the request reaches us with your IP address and the standard headers any app sends, and the app does not send your measurements or profile with it.
Cloud Sync (Android)
Cloud Sync is an optional, paid Tailor Shop feature in the Android app that backs up and syncs your data across your devices. If you turn it on, we collect your email address (or, if you sign in with Google, the email address on your Google account); the app content you sync, meaning profiles, measurements, custom measurements and pages, notes, photos, body-scan images and measurement history; and a device-generated sync identifier that has no meaning outside keeping your devices in sync.
This data is stored on Amazon Web Services infrastructure in the United States, encrypted both in transit and at rest. Signing in through Google shares your Google account's email address with us for authentication; we do not receive anything else from your Google account.
We keep your Cloud Sync data until you delete your account, or until 12 months after a Tailor Shop subscription lapses without the account being deleted. See deleting your account and data for how to delete it, and for the retention detail behind these numbers.
Account deletion
You can delete your Cloud Sync account and its cloud data at any time. See deleting your account and data for the steps on Android, what happens if you cannot open the app, and how data storage works on iPhone, where there is no DressMeasurement account.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the marketing site or the apps collect data, we will update the "Last updated" date above and describe what changed. If we ever add another analytics tool or cookie to the marketing site, we will update the consent banner and this page first.
