Getting started with Dress Measurement

Set up Dress Measurement in a few minutes on iPhone or Android: your first profile, your height and fit, and where your measurements live once setup is done.

Creating and managing profiles

Every person you measure gets a profile. Here is how to create one, which fields are required, how many the free plan holds, and how to find one once you have several.

Taking measurements

Tap a label on the body to enter a measurement with a tape, read the guidance for where the tape goes, switch units, and track how a measurement changes over time.

Measuring with a body scan

The body scan turns three photos, front, side and back, into a silhouette you can measure. Here is what the scan needs, how the capture runs, and how to check the result.

Drawing measurements on your scan

Once a scan is finished you can draw a measurement straight onto the photos. The app turns the lines you draw into a circumference or a length and saves it to the profile.

Getting a size recommendation

The Sizes tab turns the measurements on a profile into a size for each brand, with a confidence level and the numbers behind it. Size recommendations are free on every plan.

Custom measurements

Draw a measurement your shop actually uses on a page of its own, name it, add instructions and a reference photo, then enter it like any built-in measurement.

Reference measurements

Reference lines are guides with no value attached. Draw them on a page to show exactly where a measurement starts and stops, so whoever takes it measures the same thing you did.

Photos and notes

Keep fabric shots, sketches and written notes with the client they belong to, or with the single order they were taken for, so nothing about a garment lives only in your head.

Tailor Shop on iPhone

Tailor Shop adds client contact details, orders, invoices, a fitting schedule and client messaging to Dress Measurement, so one app carries a job from the first measurement to the final payment.

Set up your business profile

Your shop name, tagline, logo and contact details sit in one screen and print on every invoice and receipt you send a client.

Add and manage clients

With Tailor Shop on, a profile becomes a client record with a phone number, an email address, a preferred channel, an address, a birthday and tags.

Track orders through the workshop

The Orders tab holds every garment you have in hand, with six stages from received to done, and a detail screen that reaches the fitting, the invoice and the client.

Invoices and payments

Raise an invoice from an order, record deposits and part payments against it, mark it settled, and send the client a one page PDF.

Fittings and the schedule

The Schedule tab groups every fitting, pickup, consultation and alteration into Today, Tomorrow, This Week and Later, and can remind you before each one.

Messaging clients

Send a client a status update by WhatsApp, SMS or email, using four ready-made messages that fill in the name, the garment and the fitting date for you.

Exporting measurements as PDF or CSV

Send one profile as a printable PDF measurement sheet, or export several clients as a spreadsheet, without leaving the app.

App settings and profile settings

Set your default units, appearance, cloud sync and measuring guides for the whole app, and change one profile's name, units, skin tone or fit preference.

Sync and backup with iCloud

Keep your profiles backed up to iCloud, compare what is stored on the cloud against what is on the phone, and keep a local backup as a second copy.

What is Dress Measurement?

Dress Measurement is a body measurement and size recommendation app for iPhone and Android. You can capture measurements two ways: manually with a tape measure, or using Body Scan, where you scan yourself with your phone camera and then draw on the screen at the exact points you want measured. Both methods are free on every tier. The app stores measurements in organized profiles, gives you instant size recommendations across 70+ supported clothing brands, and exports your data as PDF or CSV. It is built for tailors who need a client measurement book as well as for online shoppers who want to stop guessing their size.

Is the app free?

Yes. The Free tier is genuinely free and includes manual measurement entry, Body Scan with your phone camera, size recommendations across all supported brands, iCloud backup on iPhone, PDF export, and up to 7 profiles on iPhone and Android. There are no ads on iPhone, and the Android app is ad-supported until its next update.

Does it sync across devices?

On iPhone, Dress Measurement uses iCloud to sync profiles and measurements across all your Apple devices automatically. Advanced iCloud sync settings are available on the Tailor Shop tier. Android currently stores data locally on the device; cloud sync for Android is on the roadmap.

How do size recommendations work?

You enter your measurements once, then navigate to the Size Recommendations screen and pick a brand and clothing category. The app compares your measurements to the brand's size chart and tells you the best matching size with a confidence level: high (all measurements within range), medium, or low. The algorithm uses the same logic for both iPhone and Android, and the brand size chart data is the same on both platforms. See the size recommendations page for a full explanation.
